Scuff-X

Everyone has places in their homes that endure a little more wear and tear. Maybe it’s a mudroom or your teenager’s bathroom. Perhaps the baseboards in your entryway are all scuffed up from kicked-off shoes and eager dog paws. Benjamin Moore had all of these scenarios in mind when creating ultra-durable paint for high-traffic areas.

Benjamin Moore Aura Bath & Spa

Have you ever noticed staining on your bathroom ceiling and walls after long, steamy showers? Most paint, while offering a wall a protective barrier, is not made to stand up to intense moisture. Benjamin Moore’s Aura Bath & Spa line is specially formulated for just that. As paint expert Eddie Pocoski, says, “It’s for your teenagers, for the kids taking a bath, when there’s going to be a lot of steam, or those 30-minute showers when you want to be able to clean the walls easily.” Aura Bath & Spa paint is optimized for humid environments, and is steam, mold, and mildew resistant. It cleans easily and thanks to Benjamin Moore’s Color Lock technology, your color will remain as vibrant as the day you painted.

Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec Scuff-X

Benjamin Moore’s Ultra Spec Scuff-X is an awesome option for your toughest high-traffic areas such as mudrooms, garages, hallways, and stairwells. In fact, Ultra Spec Scuff-X is recommended for busy commercial spaces such as offices, lobbies, and fitting rooms, because its proprietary scuff-resistant formula makes it paint with superior durability with minimal maintenance. Pocoski says he definitely recommends Ultra Spec Scuff-X if you have small kids.

Scuff-X's Superior Scuff Resistance

Ultra Spec Scuff-X doesn’t have to be touched up and will last three times as long as other paints. When you scuff up a wall with normal eggshell paint, a black mark will be left behind, which you can hopefully remove by scrubbing with soap and water. However, that scrubbing can remove some of the paint film, which leaves the paint more vulnerable to future stains and can affect the paint’s sheen. Ultra Spec Scuff-X excels at resisting scuffing and marring in the first place, and the paint’s film can withstand repeated washing for those really stubborn marks, which is key.

“The reason why Benjamin Moore products are so much better than the competition, is that the Benjamin Moore film is actually scuff and scrub resistant, meaning it doesn’t allow stains to actually penetrate the film,” says Pocoski, “which means easy wipeability.”

Aura Matte

Another option for a durable finish is Benjamin Moore Aura Matte. Like Ultra Spec Scuff-X, the Aura line comes in Matte, Eggshell, Satin, and Semi, but Aura has a lower paint sheen for a more elegant finish while still boasting the the scuff resistant properties of Ultra Spec Scuff-X. While it is more expensive than Scuff-X, Aura is easier to apply, has excellent coverage, and will hide in less coats. If you want the elegant paint sheen that Aura offers but extra durability of Scuff-X, you can always paint your walls with Aura Matte and use Scuff-X on baseboards and trim. This will provide extra protection from shoes, toys, and even dog nails!
